We only process data where we have a lawful basis on which to do so, as follows:

Personal Data

Following consent for personal data to be provided to Carpenters in order to process a legal claim, as Data Controllers we process and store personal data on one or more of the following Data Protection conditions:

6(1)(a) with an individual’s consent;

6(1)(b) the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you or to take steps to enter into a contract;

6(1)(c) the processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation;

6(1)(f ) the processing is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by us as Data Controller or a third party (except where such interests are overridden by your interests, rights or freedoms).

Special Category Data

We may process and/or store medical and/or employment data on one or more of the following conditions:

9(2)(a) – with explicit consent;

9(2)(f) – the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or in defence of legal claims or where courts are acting in their judicial capacity;

9(2)(h) – the processing is necessary for the purposes of preventative or occupational medicine, for assessing the working capacity of the employee, medical diagnosis, the provision of health or social care or treatment or management of health or social care systems and services on the basis of Union or Member State law or a contract with a health professional.

Data processing may be via electronic means and/or in paper format and will be stored for the purpose it has been obtained and for as long as it is needed for that purpose and to fulfill our regulatory and/or legal obligations.

In order to assist us in providing any aspect of our services, we may collect the following:

  • Any information that is obtained in our providing any services to you.

  • Counsel;

  • Fraud prevention agencies;

  • Our regulators (SRA and/or FCA);

  • Lexcel, Institute of Customer Service and other quality accreditation providers.

In these circumstances, we will ensure that your information is properly protected and that it is only used in accordance with this privacy policy.

Where your information is stored. We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure (password-and firewall-protected) servers. All electronic transactions you make to or receive from us will be encrypted using SSL technology.

Security of information. We take the security of your personal information seriously. We have security procedures in place to ensure that our paper and computer systems and databases are protected against unauthorised use, loss and damage.

Your personal information rights. You have the right to request an update to, deletion of or restrict processing of your data. You also have the right to request a copy of the data we hold on your file

Retention of information. We keep personal information for as long as necessary to ensure we can fulfil to meet our legal and operational requirements in accordance with current Data Protection legislation and applicable regulation.

Changes to our privacy policy. We may revise this privacy policy at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we make, as they are legally binding on you. Some of the provisions contained in this privacy policy may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on our site.
